Terms of Service
Last updated
These terms cover your use of DesignPrompts: the website, your account and anything you buy from us. Mellow Studios LLC, based in California, United States, runs DesignPrompts. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean Mellow Studios LLC, and "you" means the person or organisation using DesignPrompts.
By using the site, creating an account or buying from us, you agree to these terms.
1.Words we use
- The Components catalogue is the set of Primitives, Blocks with their Variations, and Interfaces we publish in every Style pack. You install them one component at a time from our registry.
- A System is a complete design system we make for one kind of product. Each System has its own Gallery page.
- A System package is the archive of a System's project: its page and code, its component kit, its DESIGN.md, its Design Prompt, its agent skills and its assets.
- The Pro licence is the one-time purchase that includes the Components catalogue and every System.
- A Licence key is the key Polar issues when you buy Pro. You use it to install components from our registry.
- An Entitlement is our record that your account owns Pro or a System. It decides which System packages your account can download.
- Your team means the people who work with you in the business or organisation that holds the licence.
2.The free parts of DesignPrompts
The Explorer and its style pages, the Gallery and the Components catalogue pages are free to browse. The Builder is free and needs no account.
You may copy a free style's prompt, or a prompt the Builder writes, and use it in your own projects, including commercial and client work. You may not republish or sell the free prompts as a collection.
3.Your account
You need an account to buy and to download System packages. You can sign up with an email address and a password, or with Google. Use an email address you check, because we send sign-in and password reset mail to it.
Keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens under your account. You must be at least 18 to create an account.
4.Buying Pro or a single System
Pro costs $99, paid once. It includes the Components catalogue and every System, including Systems we add later. There is no subscription and no renewal.
A single System costs $19, paid once, on that System's Gallery page. It includes that System's package. What you pay for a single System does not count toward Pro.
Prices are in US dollars. You need to sign in to buy. Polar processes the payment as the merchant of record: you pay Polar, and Polar issues your receipts, your invoices and, for Pro, your Licence key. We never see your card details. Polar's own terms also apply to the payment.
5.Installing components
With Pro, you install components from our registry with the shadcn CLI, one component per install, using your Licence key. Each install puts plain source files in your project, and you keep the files you install.
Each install sends your key to our registry, which checks it with Polar. If Polar cannot be reached, installs fail until it can. Your Licence key is in Polar's billing portal, which the Billing page in your account opens.
Keep your Licence key out of version control and public places. If it is exposed, tell us at the support address below.
6.Downloading System packages
When you buy Pro or a System, Polar tells us and we record an Entitlement on your account. While you are signed in, you can download the package of each System your account owns from the Systems screen. You keep the packages you download.
7.What you may do
Pro and a single System purchase both let you:
- use the files in any number of your own projects, commercial ones included;
- use them in work for clients, and hand the finished work to the client with our files inside it;
- change the files in any way you like;
- give the files and prompts to your own coding agent while you build;
- keep using the files and guidance you have already received, even after we stop selling them;
- share the files, and with Pro the Licence key, with your team for the team's own projects.
A single System purchase gives these rights for that System's package only. A client who receives finished work may keep using and changing that work, but gets no licence to use the catalogue or a package in other projects.
8.What you may not do
You may not:
- redistribute the Components catalogue, a component or a System package on its own, paid or free, for example as a kit, template, theme or library;
- use the catalogue or a package to supply a competing registry, dataset, template shop or other design-asset service;
- share your Licence key outside your team, publish it, or resell your licence;
- get around the licence check or our rate limits, or copy the catalogue or the packages in bulk by automated means;
- use DesignPrompts to break the law or to harm the service.
Our files may leave your team only inside finished work, such as a site or an app you built.
9.Ownership
You own your sites, products and other work, including the changes you make to our files.
We own DesignPrompts, the Components catalogue, the Systems and their packages, the prompts and the site. Your licence lets you use them as these terms describe. It does not transfer ownership.
Each System comes with a sample brand: a name, a mark and copy written to show the System. That brand stays ours. You publish your work under your own brand, and you may not use the sample brand's name or mark as your own.
Some files in a System package come under their own licences, such as the fonts. The package includes those licences and lists the rights for its pictures in its README. Components depend on open-source libraries, such as Base UI, which keep their own licences.
Do not use the DesignPrompts name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse your work.
10.Updates and availability
Pro includes lifetime updates. That means updates to the Components catalogue and the Systems, and new Systems, at no extra charge for as long as we run DesignPrompts.
We may change, add or remove parts of DesignPrompts. We do not promise that it will always be available or free of errors. Installing components and downloading packages need our service to be up, and installs also need Polar.
If we stop running DesignPrompts, you keep the files you already have and the right to use them under these terms.
11.Refunds
We handle refund requests case by case. Write to us at the support address below.
12.Ending your licence or your account
You can stop using DesignPrompts at any time. To delete your account, write to us from the email address you sign in with. Deleting your account ends downloads through it. It does not take away your right to use the files you already have.
If you break these terms, we may suspend your account, revoke your Licence key and your Entitlements, and end your licence. When we end a licence for a breach, the rights it gave you end too, including the right to keep using our files. Finished work you delivered to a client before then stays covered.
13.No warranty
We provide DesignPrompts, its prompts, components and packages as they are. As far as the law allows, we give no warranty about them. We do not promise that they are free of errors, that they suit your purpose or that they meet the legal requirements that apply to your site. Coding agents can produce different results from the same prompt, so check what you build before you ship it.
14.Limits on our liability
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, lost revenue, lost data or a lost business opportunity, even if we knew they could happen.
Our total liability for any claim about DesignPrompts is limited to the amount you paid for DesignPrompts through Polar in the twelve months before the claim, or 100 US dollars if you paid nothing.
Some places do not allow these limits. Where that is the case, they apply only as far as the law allows.
15.Governing law and disputes
The laws of the State of California, United States, govern these terms. Any dispute about these terms or DesignPrompts goes to the state courts in Marin County, California, or the federal courts of the Northern District of California, and you and we agree to the jurisdiction of those courts.
16.Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will post the new version on this page and change the date at the top. For a material change, we also email account holders at least 14 days before it takes effect. If you keep using DesignPrompts after a change, the new terms apply. A change does not take away rights you already have for a purchase you made before it.
17.Links to other sites
Some pages link to other Mellow projects. These are our own projects, not paid placements. We are not responsible for the content of sites we do not run.
